What our generator PM covers

A standby generator is only worth what it does the day the power fails. Most standby sets sit idle for long stretches, so problems like a weak battery or a fuel issue often stay hidden until the unit is called on. Scheduled maintenance is how you find them first.

Our scheduled PM for standby and prime generators includes:

  • Fluids and filters: oil, filters and coolant
  • Batteries
  • Cooling system
  • Fuel system
  • Controls
  • Automatic transfer switch testing and service

You get a written report after every visit, and our reports follow CSA C282. When something needs attention, the same crew handles generator servicing and repairs, plus electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics. Maintenance plans are available for residential, commercial and fleet or multi-unit clients.

For sites that want one contractor responsible for keeping the power running, we also provide ongoing operations and maintenance (O&M) for generators, power systems and electrical equipment. That covers scheduled PM, inspections, testing, repairs and 24/7 call-outs, with a report after every visit.

Load bank testing

A load bank is a piece of test equipment that applies a controlled electrical load to a generator. It lets you run the set under load and see how it performs without relying on whatever the building happens to be drawing that day.

In general, a diesel generator that only runs during light-load exercise periods can build up unburned fuel and carbon in the exhaust system, a condition known as wet stacking. Running the engine under a proper load is a common way to deal with it. The test also shows whether the set can carry the load it was installed for.

We load bank test standby and prime generators up to 5 MW:

  • Annual tests as part of ongoing maintenance
  • Commissioning tests on new installations
  • Post-repair verification after major work

We run the set under load, record the results and hand you the report, which follows CSA C282. We do this at industrial, commercial and agricultural sites across Alberta and Western Canada.

Commissioning

We commission generators, transfer switches, switchgear and electrical systems. The work includes pre-start checks, startup, functional and load testing, and turnover documentation. We wire it, land it and prove it under load before it goes into service.

As a multi-trade contractor, we handle the generator, the transfer switch and the distribution side in-house. You don't have to coordinate three vendors to get one system commissioned.

Who we work for

We maintain, test and commission generators for:

  • Oil and gas
  • Power generation
  • Agriculture
  • Manufacturing
  • Commercial buildings
