Standby generators for homes, farms and businesses near Edmonton, Leduc and Nisku
Lock Hill Energy Services Ltd. is an authorized dealer for Kohler, Generac and Cummins standby generators, and we sell, install and service them for homes, farms and businesses from our base in Nisku. We serve Leduc, Nisku, Beaumont and Edmonton first, and the rest of Alberta and Western Canada.
Lock Hill is a licensed Alberta electrical contractor, in business since 2005. Our team is 20 people, 17 of them in the field, including journeyman and master electricians and heavy equipment technicians. We size the unit to your load, supply it, install the generator and automatic transfer switch, commission it and service it after. Lock Hill is certified by Kohler, Generac and Cummins.
How a standby generator works
A standby generator is wired permanently into your electrical system through an automatic transfer switch (ATS). When utility power fails, the generator starts and the transfer switch moves your power over within seconds. There are no cords, no manual switching and no fuel to haul.
Home standby generators
We install automatic whole-home and essential-circuit backup that runs on natural gas or propane. We supply and install Generac Guardian, Kohler air-cooled and Cummins RS-series home standby systems.
Representative air-cooled ratings across the three brands:
| Output | Typical coverage | Fuel |
|---|---|---|
| 14 kW | Essential circuits: furnace, fridge/freezer, sump, well, key outlets | Natural gas / propane |
| 18–22 kW | Most of a mid-size home | Natural gas / propane |
| 24–26 kW | Whole home, larger residences | Natural gas / propane |
Final sizing follows a load calculation, not a guess.
Farm and commercial standby generators
For retail, shops, offices, farms, multi-tenant buildings and critical small loads, we supply liquid-cooled standby gensets and integrate them with the transfer equipment and switchgear your site actually needs. We supply and install Generac Protector, Kohler liquid-cooled and Cummins commercial (gas and diesel) systems.
| Output | Typical application | Fuel |
|---|---|---|
| 30–50 kW | Small retail, shops, offices, farm operations | Natural gas / propane / diesel |
| 60–100 kW | Larger commercial, multi-tenant, light facilities | Natural gas / propane / diesel |
| 125–150 kW | Light industrial, critical small loads | Natural gas / propane / diesel |
| 150–400 kW | Larger commercial and light industrial, multi-building, higher-priority loads | Natural gas / diesel |
As a multi-trade contractor, we handle the generator, the ATS and the distribution side in-house, so you're not coordinating three vendors to get one system commissioned.
For prime power and large standby from 250 kW to 4 MW, see our sister company, Nikitis Power Systems.

Lock Hill is a certified FranklinWH installer. We supply and install FranklinWH battery backup systems for homes and small commercial buildings, including the electrical tie-in and commissioning. A battery system is a quiet option on its own, or it can be paired with a standby generator.
